Appointments
For non-urgent issues, please follow the guidelines below and choose the right service. An appointment may not be necessary.
This will help us to be more efficient by making an appointment available to you when you need it the most.

Pharmacy First Scheme
We offer same day appointments with your community pharmacist for the treatment of minor illnesses and conditions.
There are many advantages of this service. It includes the supply of appropriate medicines for 7 common conditions including earache, sore throat, and urinary tract infections, aiming to address health issues before they get worse.
Further information on the service can be found on the NHS England website
The Pharmacy First referral service is available to you by calling the practice. The Care Navigator will ask you some questions in order to determine whether the service is suitable for your condition. Appropriate conditions will be referred to the pharmacy. Referrals need to be made before 16:00 to ensure same day treatment

Book an Appointment
Routine Appointments
When you register at the practice you will be given the name of your GP (doctor) who will be your usual GP. If you are unaware of who your usual GP is please ask one of our Care Navigators. When you ring to book a GP appointment, you will always be booked in to see your usual GP.
For routine appointments please contact the practice after 10am to be booked in with your usual doctor or other clinician.
Working within our current staffing capacity we are doing our best to ensure that you have access to additional appointments outside of our core hours. Therefore, GP appointments are now available during the evenings and at the weekend.
If you are unsure when booking your appointment of whether or not you need advice from a GP or a different health care professional, our Care Navigators are available to help direct you to the correct person.
Ways to book
Urgent Appointments
Urgent appointments are defined as those that cannot wait until your usual GP is available. Requests for urgent appointments will be placed on a list and triaged by a duty doctor. Please be aware that the duty doctor will not deal with any problem or issue that does not need to be dealt with on that day. They will refer those problems back to your usual GP or an alternative health care professional such as our pharmacist, care co-ordinator, First Contact Physio or Paramedic.
For urgent appointments please contact the practice on the day before 11am.
Face to Face and Telephone GP Consultations
We offer both face-to-face and telephone consultations with our GPs. The decision regarding the type of GP appointment offered is patient led. When booking your GP appointment, we ask that you specify whether you would like a telephone or face to face GP appointment.
Chaperones
If you would like a chaperone to be present during any part of your consultation including intimate examinations, then please inform your doctor. In the event of the practice being unable to provide a chaperone at that time, you will be given the option of re-booking your examination for a subsequent date.
Sickness Certificates (Fit Notes)
You must give your employer a doctor's 'fit note' (sometimes called a 'sick note') if you've been ill for more than 7 days in a row and have taken sick leave. This includes non-working days, such as weekends and bank holidays.
Travel Vaccinations
Information and advice for travelling abroad.
Home Visits
Home visits are at the discretion of the doctor. If you are too ill to be brought to the surgery or if you are housebound, please phone and leave a message, before 11am.
The Doctor will then ring you as soon as possible to discuss your request. Occasionally, the doctor may feel it is more appropriate for a member of the community nursing team to attend. They will always discuss this with you first.
Change or Cancel an Appointment
Please give us as much notice as possible so we can offer your appointment to someone else.
Ways to cancel
- Telephone us on 0117 959 8939.
- Cancel through the NHS App
Please remember that there may be a shortage of appointments and when you fail to attend you have prevented someone else from being seen in your place. On average about 230 appointments are missed each month
Cancellations notified less than 30 minutes before the appointment time will be recorded as failure to attend (DNA).
Repeated failure to attend booked appointments is a significant waste of NHS resources
Out of Hours
Extended Hours
The practice is open on the 2nd Saturday of each month and one evening each week.
The Practice offers extended hours appointments beyond our own already wide choice of appointment times. These additional appointments are available only to those patients who have difficulty accessing routine care with their own Doctor within the usual hours advertised. These will be available with your own usual Doctor on a weekly basis as well as additional nurse and HCA appointments.
Life Threatening
Call 999 or go to A&E now if:
- you or someone you know needs immediate help
- you have seriously harmed yourself - for example, by taking a drug overdose
A mental health emergency should be taken as seriously as a medical emergency.
Urgent But Not Life Threatening
Visit an urgent care centre if:
- You have an urgent medical issue requiring on the day attention
Non-urgent
Use NHS 111 if:
- You need help now, but it's not an emergency
There will be someone to provide you with advice and to direct you to a clinician if it is necessary.
